The Strand Lighting CD80 dimmer is an industry workhorse.  Unfortunately,  its control electronics has not aged well over the years.   But all is not lost with a Johnson Systems CD-2000 retrofit.  With a new lease on life, the retrofitted CD80 dimmer rack is ready for another 15-20 years of reliable service.

The widely used Electro Controls Quad Dimmer Rack with a Premiere control system.  This hardy system can also be found under the manufacturer name of Strand Electro Controls and more rarely, Strand Lighting.  The Quad rack would be phased out by Strand Lighting in favor of its own CD80 dimmer rack.  Premiere however would live on and be improved.

The Quad rack can easily be retrofitted with modern digital electronics manufactured by Johnson Systems, the QD-2000.

The CD80SV processor is a powerful and feature laden piece of electronics.  However, it suffers from premature failure, often failing every 7-10 years.  A Johnson Systems CD-2000-SV retrofit can always fix that problem.
